Free City (Vaba Linn in Estonian) is a meetingpoint event focusing on ideas, skills and projects that have a seed in open-source paradigm but do not have to act strictly in software or technology. The main adjective here is open, as in open knowledge, open society, open urbanspace, open technology.
The logo, with its gap, gives a hint that everybody is welcome to participate in this open discussion. To be a part of the whole thing.
The visual elements of "Free City" (vaba LINN in estonian) also contain an origami "Free Bird" (vaba LIND in estonian) who has taken off thanks to all the new ideas; and a short version VL, which, intentionally resembling to a known fashion brand, throws up an idea of "shared knowledge" or to be more straight forward - a borrowed sign.
