A festive ceremony of signing a sponsorship agreement took place on August 12, 2009 in front of SEB main building at the presence of journalists and a large audience. The Minister of
Culture, Laine Jänes, was the guest of honour at the event; the agreement was signed by the Chairman of the Executive Board of SEB Estonia and General Manager of the Estonian
National Opera. A weekend before the event, a red 14-meter wide curtain was placed between the pillars of the building and the text GOLDEN SPONSOR OF THE ESTONIAN
NATIONAL OPERA was attached below SEB’s logo. Loudspeakers were placed on the balcony so the beautiful sounds of famous operas could reach the ears of passers-by. Entering
the building from between the curtains was like stepping onto a stage and offices were decorated with furniture and costumes from evergreen plays. Children in costumes handed out fliers to passers-by, informing about the opportunity to buy discounted theatre tickets right from the bank office.
